WAS Design facilitated the design for Government Plaza Pocket Park which restores and enhances the public space on the east side of the City-County Government Complex, located in the Church Street East Historic District. The project introduces a welcoming blend of civic and historic character, with improvements that include new paving, flagpoles, lush landscaping, modern irrigation, and landscape lighting. At its heart, the park features a circular fountain, creating a focal point that celebrate movement and gathering. Every element, from the lighting to the plantings has been carefully selected to reflect the iconic “Old Mobile” atmosphere, honoring the city’s heritage while providing a refreshed, inviting space for today’s community.
